What do you see?

When I got home yesterday, Julie and I went on a two mile walk.  We live a few miles outside of town in what most would consider the country.  The roads we walk down are lined with hay fields, cattle, ponds, and some wooded areas.

At one point we walked past a herd of cattle all of which turned to stare at us like they had never seen anyone walk down this road before!  Now, keep in mind that we have been on this Daniel Fast for over two weeks.  Simply meaning, that we have not had meat during the fast.

The picture above is an actual picture of the group of cows we passed.  What do you see as you look at that picture.  For me, I saw steak!  And that's exactly what I told those cows - "you would make some great steaks!  Bring on the beef!"

Then my wife chimed in - "Oh!  Look at that one that is light brown with the white eye brows - he is soooo cute!"  I almost passed out on the road.

Isn't it funny how people see things from different perspectives?  And that is exactly how God created us.  I was also reminded how opposites attract.  I heard Dave Ramsey say, "If two spouses are both alike then one of them would be useless."

I love my wife.  She is my best friend.  She makes me laugh.  She makes me stronger.  She shows me another side of God's creation as she lives her life for Jesus.  We are different in so many ways and yet I love her.  I am extremely blessed!

The same application can be made about the church.  We are all different.  God created us with different likes, abilities, talents, ect.  It's when we come together as a church body and keep our focus on Jesus (not ourselves) that we can be all that God has called us to be.

You may not like beef.  You may not even like the fact that I would think about eating a cow!  But, as for me, I can't wait to get my hands on one of those steaks - even if it is cute!
