The process of learning to be still.
Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
I’m not good at being still. My dad gave me the nickname
“worm” – as in wiggle worm – when I was just a little kid. I was always on the
move – never sat still. It must have driven them crazy at times.
But I’m now on day 10 of having to be more still than Joe Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13155513564905500961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052747486487862950.post-75046844958835623662015-10-14T12:22:00.000-05:002015-10-14T12:22:36.162-05:006 Days After Surgery

I love Jesus. I love the USA. And, I'm a pastor.
Without a doubt, there have been numerous changes in ministry over the past 23 years. Social media has created a wonderfully dangerous avenue for people to openly share wisdom, craziness, love, and hate.
As a pastor, I believe we have to be extremely wise in the words we speak and the things we post.
Here's an excellent postJoe Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13155513564905500961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052747486487862950.post-39234589979023831332013-08-01T07:00:00.002-05:002013-08-01T07:00:30.292-05:00Return from Africa - An Interview with Karlee WilsonOur daughter, Karlee Wilson, spent six weeks this summer serving in Ethiopia with Two Hearts for Hope founder Stacy Segebarth. She's only been home a few days and had to fly out for a friends wedding. So, I sat down and asked her some key questions about her trip and the impact it's had on her life.
You can read more about Karlee's journey on her blog.

This was my fifth time to hit a Catalyst event but my first time on the West Coast. Needless to say we all loved it and hope to go back again next year if it fits our schedule and budget.

I'm sitting in Africa and noticed a blog posted by one of my friends. It was a blog post by Ruth Wilson. I don't know Ruth, I don't know Africa like she does, I haven't experienced missionary life like she has. But, I have seen first hand much of what she is writing about. And, I can attest to the fact that it takes a very special person to live the life of one called to serve overseasJoe Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13155513564905500961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052747486487862950.post-2078132206536117642013-07-08T14:10:00.000-05:002013-07-17T14:11:15.627-05:00Jinja, Uganda July 8thHere's a short video from our time at Canaan Children's Home in Jinja, Uganda. I'm so thankful we were able to visit this incredible home and meet Pastor Isaac and his wife. Isaac has a true passion for helping children and God is using him to make a huge difference in so many kids.

It has
been a long day of sitting in the car, experiencing strange/smelly bathrooms, and
poor Kenyan conditions, but also a great day to see God work through it all. We
woke up at the Floral bright and early for breakfast. Some of us got some
coffee and then we hit the road! On our way to Mogogosiek, we stopped at The
Rift Valley viewpoint. Today did
not start off the greatest for our poor Savanna... She woke up very ill. She
ended up staying behind in the comforts of the guest home where there was a
nice toiletJ Luckily the baby home was close to the guest
home and we were scheduled to go back to the guest home for lunch to check on
her.

America World Adoption ACT Mission Trips
We
started our day early with breakfast at 7:00am. It was cereal, fried eggs, and
bread. After breakfast we met for devotions and prayer – without Gods call we
wouldn’t have considered coming – without Gods provision we wouldn’t be here
and without His help we wouldn’t make it in the days to come.
While at
breakfast we met a man from Minnesota Joe Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13155513564905500961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052747486487862950.post-36226145253074122902013-07-01T23:20:00.000-05:002013-07-09T23:21:20.863-05:00Kenya, Monday - July 1st
Monday – July 1st
We
started our day at 4:30 in preparation for our 8:00am flight out of Nairobi to
London. We caught an airport shuttle and headed to our terminal at 5:30am. Upon
our arrival we learned our flight had been cancelled the night before. For some
reason, British Airway did not communicate this news to those who booked
tickets on this flight. So, we stood in line for two hours – Joe Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13155513564905500961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052747486487862950.post-22292058336967703862013-04-25T04:40:00.000-05:002013-04-25T04:40:03.672-05:00Impact Africa Update

This past week I had the privilege to attend Catalyst Leadership Conference in California. I've been to three other Catalyst conferences in the past but this was my first one on the West Coast. And, in true Catalyst fashion I wasn't disappointed I truly enjoyed my time with our church staff, meeting new friends, being challenged to grow as a pastor/leader, and worship.&Joe Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13155513564905500961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052747486487862950.post-25107892275944858582013-04-12T08:37:00.000-05:002013-04-12T08:37:22.025-05:00It's Time!

I was traveling back from a family spring break trip when I received the news that Rick and Kay Warren's 27 year old son had died. I was heartbroken.
Julie and I have had the privilege to meet Rick while at a conference in California. I have been to Saddleback a couple of times for training. I have read his books. I have listened to his messages. I have taught many of his lessons. It's a powerful video and several people asked me to share it. This piece was create by MovingWorks. I encourage you to check out the site if you get a chance. I appreciate their work and passion for using media to impact the world for Christ.

My wife and I have this incredible opportunity to lead a mission team for America World Adoption Agency this summer. Our team will be traveling to Kenya and Uganda to help care for orphans in children's homes in both countries. AWAA is the adoption agency we went through six years ago when adopting our youngest daughter, Klaire.
To make this happen, I have to raise $2,000 in the next Joe Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13155513564905500961noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052747486487862950.post-24240149080056946142013-03-19T07:03:00.002-05:002013-03-19T07:03:25.555-05:00One of my struggles...

But, if I had to pick one sport that I love the most it would be...basketball.
So, in honor of March Madness, my home state, upsets, and underdogs - I would like to share the following video.
GO ILLINOIS! Bring on the upset. Always believe. Never give up.
