I was doing some reading in Proverbs chapter10 today during my devotional time. I have also been doing some preparation for our “Hold Your Tongue” series this week. It’s amazing how much God’s word has to say about the power of such a small part of our body. Here are the passages from Proverbs 10;
- The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces. Vs 8
- The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. Vs 11
- Wise words come from the lips of people with understanding, but those lacking sense will be beaten with a rod. Vs 13
- Wise people treasure knowledge, but the babbling of a fool invites disaster. Vs 14
- Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool. Vs 18
- Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. Vs 19
- The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless. Vs 20
- The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense. Vs 21
- The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice, but the tongue that deceives will be cut off. Vs 31
- The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words. Vs 32
